The Kingswood Community

Courtney is situated in the town of Kingswood, a surburb 5 miles from Bristol and 7 miles from Bath. It is a very busy place and there is lots of do and see!

At the heart of Kingswood is the main shopping street called Regent Street. There you will find the Clocktower which was built to mark the diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. It is next to a great tasting fish and chip shop!
This is the library which is situated near to the shops. It has a good range of books and you can even access the Internet from there! They have some interesting books on the History of Kingswood.
This is the Headquarters of South Gloucestershire in Kingswood, the Civic Centre. Again this is on the High Street, opposite the library.
There is a lot of new development near Courtney in Kingswood. This is the Old Plough Pub but there is also a new Cinema, McDonalds, Bowling Alley and Pizza Hut nearby, further along the Ring Road. However Kingswood is steeped in history. It was traditionally a Mining Town and also has roots in boot and pin making. The children study the history of Kingswood in the Juniors as part of the local study. There is a Kingswood Museum in Warmley.
